Is it me, or does anyone find this commercial for a certain company to be downright insane?
All I can say is now is a good time to start saving those pennies.

Well, Hanna has passed Central North Carolina this morning, brining copious amounts of rain in its wake. Fortunately we didn’t get the wind damage that was prevalent near the coast, although there has been flooding in spots. One of the creeks near where I live has a tendency to overflow everytime it rains really hard. Once the rains subsided, I decided to get out and take some pictures, which you can check out by visiting the Hanna picture gallery at WRAL.com.
Here’s one in particular that caught my attention. Looks like there won’t be any soccer games this weekend.

If you’ve ever attempted to navigate the Capital City, no doubt you’ve been drawn in by its notorious Beltline. The loop that encircles a good chunk of Raleigh is confusing in terms of what to call it.
For starters, there’s this Inner/Outer thing that doesn’t make much sense unless you understand the principle behind it. Then there’s the odd sense of direction that it’s been known to (mis)lead the motorist on more than one occasion. Finally, there’s the whole I-440/I-40/US 1/US 64 conundrum that’s guaranteed to throw even the natives off course.
Fortunately, the whole Beltline mess will be fixed for good. Until then, you might want to check out my latest video creation on the array of confusing road signs that lead motorists down that tricky stretch of highway.
Hard to believe that at one point, the Beltline used to be better known as the US 1/64 Bypass and the only way to get to RTP from Raleigh. It would get so clogged up during rush hour that a local radio station made a parody song of it, to the tune of Barry Manilow’s hit song “Bandstand Boogie” no less. Strange, indeed.
